Lecture Seating Installation Instructions
(Note: See Exploded Assembly [Figures 9-13] and Floor Mounting Details [Figure 14] on following pages. )
Figure 9 – Installing Seat/Table Supports and Worksurfaces
1. Use approved floor plan to establish hole locations for the base plates. Note that the chair radius line coincides
with the center of the base plate. Accurate center-to-center width spacing is critical to a proper installation.
Tolerance on the Seat/Table Support (STS) spacing is plus or minus 1/4”.
2. Install STS’s (A) to floor as per the appropriate anchoring method (Figure 14), using four screws and countersink
lock washers. If necessary, use flat washers under the STS base plate in order to level the STS so the swing
arms (B) are level. Tighten bolts.
3. Fasten adjustable mounting bracket (C) to the STS (A) using two 1/4-20 x 3-1/2” carriage bolts and two 1/4-20
hex serrated flange nuts. Do not completely tighten at this time.
4. Consult TSI floor plan layout in order to identify and gather all worksurfaces (E) required for a specific row. Place
worksurfaces in the proper sequence on the STS’s. Insert one spline (F) into the edge rout of one worksurface
at each joint location. {If the electrical system is included, a two piece spline set will be used.} Align adjacent
worksurfaces and push together until worksurfaces touch. After insuring complete alignment, secure the
worksurfaces together using two joint connectors (G).
5. After all worksurfaces within a row are connected, position the top assembly according to the floor plan and the
mounting instructions. Taking care to insure that the front edges of each worksurface are aligned, secure each
top mounting bracket to the worksurfaces using six #10 x 7/8” pan head sheet metal screws. Find the high spot
in the row, adjust the tops to this point and tighten the carriage bolt/hex nut connection securely.
Figure 10 – Installing Support Panels
1. Attach support panel (J) to the worksurface (E) using one upper angle (K) and six #10 x 5/8” pan head sheet
metal screws.
2. Plumb the support panel, locate the floor angle (M), and mark the hole locations on the floor.
3. Remove the floor angle and drill the proper size hole for the specified anchoring method (Figure 14).
4. Attach the floor angle to the floor and secure the support panel to the floor angle using two #10 x 7/8” pan head
sheet metal screws.
Figure 11 – Installing Straight Modesty Panels
1. Consult TSI Floor Plan Layout in order to identify and gather all modesty panels (C) required for a specific row.
2. Insert the first modesty panel (C) in the modesty panel rout on the underside of the worksurface (E). Attach the
modesty panel to the support panel (D) with one support panel angle (F) and six #10 x 5/8” pan head sheet metal
screws. Attach the modesty panel (C) to the worksurface (E) using modesty panel brackets (A) and six #10 x
5/8” pan head sheet metal screws. Use the TSI Floor Plan Layout to determine the correct locations of the
brackets. (Note that if an electrical system is being installed, brackets noted as “A” will be used. Brackets noted
as “B” are for use without an electrical system.)
3. Insert the next modesty panel into the rout and align it with the previous panel. Attach modesty panel to the
brackets, ensuring the joint between the modesty panels is tight and even, but do not tighten the screws. Secure
the modesty panels together with the joint connector (H). Tighten all screws.
4. Repeat step #3 until all modesty panels are installed for the row. Note that the last panel may require cutting to
fit in the remaining space. Cut the side nearest the support panel. Attach the last modesty panel to the support
panel (D) using one support panel angle (F) and six #10 x 5/8” pan head sheet metal screws.
5. Align outer edges of modesty panels at the joints and attach one connecting plate (J) to the back side of the
modesty panels with eight #10 x 5/8” pan head sheet metal screws.
